The Coca infusion
The coca tea is an infusion of coca leaves popular and typical of the Andean regions of Bolivia, Peru.
The coca tea is an ancient beverage consumed either both as a stimulant (not harmful or toxic) to cure sorojchi (altitude sickness or mountain) as well as have a symbolic value as a product in which its raw material is a sheet of traditional crop millennium. The drink produces an energizing effect.
The sale and consumption of coca leaves is legal in Peru and Bolivia (but not cocaine), in restaurants at the end of the meal is offered coca tea bags to stimulate digestion, can be sweetened with sugar or honey.
The concentration of cocaine in the coca leaf is very low (the percentages are handled scientifically ranging between 0.1% and 0.8% or 0.11 mg to 2.93 mg per bag of tea) and So, in ingested naturally does not produce serious toxicity let alone creates dependency.
